Alexis Bonnell

​Alexis Bonnell is a Senior Business Executive and a Public Sector Enabling Technology Evangelist at Google. Government is navigating unprecedented times, unprecedented opportunity and can leverage unprecedented technology to solve our nations and the world's most pressing challenges. More than ever, Public Servants are leading the charge to create a better, more equitable, and empowered experience for citizens.
Alexis is honored to "Serve the Servants”, and help them discover and apply all the ways that technology, digitization, and amazing advances can catalyze their impact and mission.
Over her career in communications, management and innovation, Bonnell has created programs, narratives and campaigns that have engaged millions of people to take action and create change. From internal approaches to shift entire organizations behavior and culture to external campaigns to engage new partners and solvers to tackle the world's greatest challenges. 
As the Chief Innovation Officer of USAID and the Director of Engagement and Communications at the U.S. Global Development Lab,  she had the privilege of working with thousands of innovators, inside and outside of USAID who are changing the world and helping millions of people become self reliant.
In 2018, USAID received a 10/10 in Innovation in the “Results for America” study of Federal Agencies. 
She previously served as the Chief of Applied Innovation & Acceleration in the U.S. Global Development Lab, of USAID, one of the premier Innovation Labs in the development industry, that she helped create in 2014. 
She serves as a key spokesperson and “Innovation Evangelist” across the industry driving innovation and modernization. 
 Over her career, Bonnell has developed billions in innovative humanitarian and development programming and communications in over 25 conflict, post-conflict and emergency countries, in almost every sector from education to stabilization, for more than 30 international bilateral donors, 10 U.N. agencies, the military and the private sector.
With more than 24 years of experience in management and communications, Bonnell has worked with: Wall Street and “dot.coms,” and on projects such as the Middle East Peace Plan, Afghan and Iraqi elections, tsunami response, Pakistan and Haiti earthquakes, construction projects, and major logistics operations.
After years overseas, Bonnell returned to the USA with USAID as the Senior Advisor on Business Transformation and KM, and then the Chief of Engagement for the Office of Education. 
Prior to her career in development, Bonnell worked as Director of Marketing for the Internet Trade Association (Association for Interactive Media), where she helped Wall Street and the corporate world understand the impact that the Internet, innovation and technology would have on business, customers and society. She is co-author of the book “Get your Dream Job.”
Bonnell has multiple degrees, masters degrees and professional certifications from Pepperdine, NYU, Stanford,  Kellogg Northwestern and other institutions.
