About the 2021 Annual Conference:

For our 2021 Annual Conference, we will once again gather more than 1,000 international development professionals from around the world to learn, to debate ideas, and to network. We will have keynote addresses, plenary sessions, breakout panels, networking opportunities, workshops, our Lightning Talks and Innovation Contests, sponsor spotlights, an exhibit hall, and more.

This year's Conference, Mind the Gap: Recalibrate for Equity and Impact, will examine how the disruption caused by COVID has exposed and widened gaps in so many realms affecting international development. We'll address the challenges in bridging these gaps, as well as those in our work, our practices, and our mindsets, through sessions on diversity, equity and inclusion; climate change; private sector engagement; local funding; education and workforce; technology and innovation; and, of course, the pandemic and its effect on international development. We will also have Learning Labs on a variety of topics. And, back by popular demand, a panel of authors of books on international development issues.

Last year's virtual Conference attracted more than 1,500 people from throughout the United States and 40 countries around the world. The conversations in the chats and networking lounges were lively, important connections were made, and we all learned from one another, coming away with a greater sense of what is happening in international development and what needs to be done. Let's continue the discussion together virtually on May 26-27!

SID-Washington’s annual conference is a unique and essential event for the international development community. Only SID-W can convene this broad a range of business and thought leaders from the implementing partner community, academia, and bilateral and multilateral policy-makers to discuss and debate the key sector challenges of the day.
