Kate Bunting
CEO, Indigo Advisors; SID-W Board of Directors
Picture
  • A life-long advocate and campaigner, Kate Bunting has invested her 25-year career in international development policy and advocacy to build constituencies dedicated to fighting global poverty.  Currently, Kate is the CEO of Indigo Advisors, an advocacy strategy and communications consulting business.

Kate most recently served as the CEO of HelpAge USA, a non-profit that works with older people around the world to reduce poverty and discrimination. She led efforts to strengthen inclusion of older people into humanitarian development settings. The fundraising and advocacy campaigns implemented under Kate’s leadership diversified HelpAge USA’s donor base and increased awareness of global aging challenges in the U.S. Under Kate’s leadership, HelpAge USA won numerous awards and expanded the inclusion agenda to include the elderly.

Previously, Kate served in a leadership role at the U.S. Agency for International Development as the DAA for Public Affairs and Director of Stakeholder Outreach.  She engaged stakeholders and developed support for key Presidential initiatives on food security, global health, and humanitarian emergencies.

As the Managing Director at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, Kate led a team to expand a bipartisan influential network of businesses, NGOs, and foreign policy experts to support U.S. international engagement. Kate also spent 17 years working for CARE USA, directing legislative and policy efforts focused on global health and U.S. foreign assistance. Kate’s innovative ideas created CARE’s Action Network, a nationwide volunteer advocacy network to support CARE’s policy agenda, and CARE Learning Tours, an education program for members of Congress to learn about global development.

Kate holds an M.A. in International Affairs from American University and is an alumni and fan of the Clemson Tigers where she earned degrees in Political Science and Spanish.
